EBSA BASEBALL — A PLACE TO PLAY, LEARN & GROW ⚾

Whether your child is picking up a bat for the first time or already loves the game, EBSA has a place for them. 

Our baseball program is designed to grow with players from Pre-K through 8th grade, with each division introducing new skills, more game action, and the right level of competition for their age. 

No matter the division, the goal stays the same: have fun, make friends, build confidence, and love playing baseball.

ROOKIE DIVISION 

PRE-K/K Grades

The perfect place to start! 

Rookie Baseball is all about having fun, making friends, and falling in love with the game. Players learn the basics of hitting, throwing, catching, running the bases, and being part of a team in a relaxed, encouraging environment.

Games begin with batting tees, with coaches introducing some pitching as players become ready. No experience is needed — just bring a glove and a willingness to have some fun! 

Each team plays approximately 7 Saturday morning games from April through end of May, weather permitting.

Where: Robert Crown, (Field 3), Tallmadge Park & Baker Park 

when: Saturday mornings  

FARM DIVISIONS

The next step in the baseball adventure! 

Farm 1 builds on the basics while keeping the game fun, active, and welcoming for every player. Kids continue developing their hitting, throwing, catching, fielding, and base-running skills while beginning to understand how the game works.

Players get opportunities to try different positions, learn to play together as a team, and build confidence on the field. The emphasis is on learning, participation, and having a great time playing baseball with friends. 

No previous baseball experience is required.

When:  Games are played Saturday mornings (Exact Times depending on permits)

FARM 2 : 2nd Grade

More baseball. More action. More confidence. 

Farm 2 takes another step toward the traditional game while still emphasizing development and fun. Players continue sharpening their hitting and fielding skills, learn more about game situations, and get experience playing a variety of positions. 

Player pitching is introduced with modified rules designed to keep games moving and give kids a positive first experience on the mound. 

Farm 2 is a great bridge between instructional baseball and the more competitive divisions ahead. 

Each team plays approximately 10 games from April through end of May, weather permitting.

MIDDLE34 DIVISION 

3rd & 4th Grade 

This is where baseball really starts to feel like baseball. 

Players pitch. Umpires call the game. Scores and standings are kept. And suddenly every hit, catch, pitch, and run gets a little more exciting. 

Middle 34 continues to focus on player development while introducing more competition and strategy. Teams are formed with an emphasis on balance, and players continue developing at multiple positions throughout the season. 

The season finishes with a championship tournament, giving every team something exciting to play toward.

When:  Games start Saturday mornings at either 9:30am or afternoon at 12:00. Weekday games are played at 5:30pm on Tuesdays

MAJOR56 DIVISION 

5th & 6th Grade 

Bigger field. Bigger plays. Bigger baseball. 

Major 56 brings another level of excitement to EBSA baseball. Players continue developing their skills while learning the strategy and pace of the full game, including lead-offs and base stealing. 

Some players arrive with years of experience; others are just discovering baseball. Both are welcome. Teams are formed through a draft designed to create balanced, competitive games and give players the opportunity to grow throughout the season. 

Scores and standings are kept, umpires work every game, and the season concludes with a championship tournament.

When: Games for the 2026 season will likely start Sunday afternoons around noon, ending by 430 or so. Weekday games will be played this season at 5:30pm on Wednesdays

PONY78 DIVISION 

7th & 8th Grade 

Real baseball — and a chance to represent Evanston. 

Pony 78 is EBSA baseball at its most complete. Players compete under traditional baseball rules, including pitching, lead-offs, stealing, and the strategy that comes with the full game. 

Evanston teams also compete against teams from neighboring communities through the Chicago Suburban Youth Baseball Association, giving players the opportunity to play new opponents and travel to different fields around the area. 

Teams are formed with an emphasis on competitive balance, and umpires work every game. 

For players who love baseball and want to keep playing, Pony is a great way to finish their EBSA years.

Where: James Park and other towns around the area. Usually Skokie, Wilmette and Lincolnwood
When: Schedule is determined by CSYBA. Usually 2-3 games a week.  Player and Coaches must be prepared for a random schedule. Weeknight games usually start at 6:30pm
